Sculpting Your Abdomen

If a tummy tuck is being suggested, this is usually because there is excess skin to be removed, which is outside of the scope of liposuction. However, liposuction is often used in conjunction with a tummy tuck to help sculpt the abdomen and flanks (love handles) and remove the fat attached to the skin that needs to remain.  For 30 years, Maine Plastic Surgery has been here to address the plastic surgery needs of the area. Once you meet and have your first initial consultation with Dr. Gardenier in our new, state-of-the-art facilities, you’ll know you’ve made the right choice to help you realize your idea of what your body could be.

Is A Male Tummy Tuck Worth It?

One of the main reasons men elect to have a tummy tuck is to remove the excess skin from a significant weight loss. You’ve worked hard to lose that weight, and now the skin remains as a physically uncomfortable, or visually unappealing memory, you’d rather let go of. We respect and understand that effort, and would like nothing more than to help relieve you of that skin. Reach out to our Portland, Maine facility today.

Who Is Male Tummy Tuck Candidate?

Just about anyone who has this type of excess skin around the belly is a candidate for this type of surgery. At your initial consultation, the exact path that is best for you will be explored and discussed. With 30 years of experience in surgical and non-surgical procedures, we’re sure to have a before and after photo example of a similar surgery for you to see.

What does the procedure entail?

The ‘tummy tuck’, or abdominoplasty, is a procedure that can entail removing excess skin, stretch marks, and fat. It can also be used to help reshape the abdomen by tightening the stomach muscles.

Will I be awake for the operation?

That will totally depend on your procedure. Normally, before your abdominoplasty, you will probably be given local anesthesia—meaning you'll be awake, but feeling no pain. However, for a more extended, more complex procedure you'll likely receive general anesthesia—meaning you'll be asleep.

What’s the difference between a full and a mini tummy tuck?

It's generally considered that a mini tummy tuck just removes skin that is just below the belly button. Whereas a full tummy tuck would be used to tighten the entirety of the abdomen.

Where could I see some before and after photos?

We have a full gallery of photos for you to review. Of course, this will give you a better idea of the procedure, as you might find some affinity with those photos, but make sure your answers are provided by a professional, like Dr. Gardenier, and our staff here at Maine Plastic Surgery.
